The Device Independence line aims to make services and applications available to users,
regardless of the device used for their access.
The fact that users may utilize mobile devices with any kind of net connection means:
- A variable quality of the net connection.
- Different Dimensions and physical characteristics of the terminal (limited mechanisms of data
I/O).
- User partial attention (pilot, driver, etc.).
- Different environmental characteristics of the context (climate, noise, lighting, etc.).
All of these are situations, or circumstances, for which this research tries to provide
solutions, starting from the respect to user demand of desk devices with a fixed connection.
Action fields
- Applications and Device Independence services.
- Partially connected architectures.
- Remote monitoring (domotics, monitoring, industrial processes).
- Multimedia services.
- Device Independent Interactives.
- Mobile learning.
- Global Positioning and geographical information systems.
